Tranquil Master Suite
A Master Bed Room Retreat that evokes a sense of tranquility was the desire of this busy New York City couple. Soft and subtle hues of texture with a small scale of opulence made a perfect combination for their sanctuary.
The large Bow Window’s mitered corners with detailed crown molding and vaulted ceiling created many challenges. The design needed to make a statement and be the anchor for the grand ceiling. At each mitered corner there is a decorative corbel that would inhibit the designs height. I created a simple cornice to fit over each corbel. This made an illusion that the molding was part of the cornice. The finished measurements of the cornice are 172.5” wide x 10” long. The soft chenille fabric had a slight shimmer and each 1 3/16” diamond nail head strategically placed in the center of the cornice glistened in the chandeliers light.
Four shirred stationary panels were attached to the cornice with a tacking strip. The panels puddles helped elongate the draperies height of 94 ½”. The fabric tie backs were made with Buckram and Velcro to stay crisp and straight. Adding a touch of bling with a rhinestone button in the center was the final detail of opulence.
My clients request for Room Darkening Shades was an easy task. I used RM Coco’s Luminary / Dust; 59% polyester, 41% Acrylic Polymer & 3 passes 100% Black out, all in one fabric. This fabric made three wide pleated balloon shade’s curves and inside mounts an elegant completion to this drapery design. This Combination Treatment set the scene for simple serenity and romance.
